Looking at the Big Sky exhibit at 1335MABINI

The sky evokes a variety of different associations: Vastness of thoughts, freedom, openness, and unlimited possibilities. Under the title Looking at the Big Sky, 14 videos of students from German art schools were chosen to be exhibited by the Goethe-Institut around the world.

Opening the exhibit is none other than its curator Dr. Renate Buschmann, director of the Inter Media Art Institute in Düsseldorf (imai) will give an opening-speech on the students’ work at the Goethe-Institut. The works of the young artists will be shown until July 3, 2015.

The material in works of media art is no longer the sole guarantor of authenticity – even less so for long-term accessibility. Only the equipment manufactured by the visibility and spatial exhibition of analog and digital sources lead us to a perception of such works of art. Therefore, the workshop deals with the critical decision-making process, which is necessary for the presentation of media art. The participants will discuss how to balance the historical materiality of the works and its current functionality and timeliness.

The exhibition opens on May 29, 6:00 - 9:30 PM at gallery 1335MABINI (1335 A. Mabini Street, Ermita, Manila). Admission is free.

RSVP until May 27 via e-mail to info@1335mabini.com
